VICTOR ROMAN (VICKIPAGES, BOST)

There is simply no other way to start off this blog than to write about your best friend. I have known him for 16 years but each day he seems to amaze me with his artwork. My friend Victor Roman, also known as VickiPages [www.vickipages.com], is a twenty-one year old artist born in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. He offers a rare urban influence with childhood influences to create an amazing unique style of art.

Here are some examples of his latest work:

Growing up as a kid, Victor has been influenced by many icons such as cartoons, comics, video games and toys. And here is the rest of it.In example, Marvel Characters like Spiderman and Captain America, Video Games like Pac-man, Metal-Slug and Resident Evil, and Cartoons like Ninja Turtles, Transformers and G.I. Joe.

In his paintings, these icons were displayed in shapes and types of color.

Here is an excerpt of an e-mail he sent me describing the process of his artworks:

"Each painting I start comes from a sketch I prepared days before. From there the process is quite simple, mix acrylic based paints and apply my colors. From there use professional inks to outline my characters and after all basics are complete I apply detail.

As far as my illustrations they require more time, patience and dedication. The computer helps me escape from the hands on world to create all my colors and lines and into the world of computer rendition.. "

Please come out to this show! it would mean so much! Thank you.
